River Otter Films was officially founded in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2013 as a start up business for Kyriakos (aka Domenico) Antonopoulos' freelance activities, following his endeavour to penetrate the film industry in Greece during the early years of the financial crisis. 

Through out these years various connections and collaborations occurred that eventually formed a core of like-minded filmmakers who have come together as River Otter Films.
